Background: Mattias was born among a small Mousefolk community that had grown withing the walled city of Krezk, in the Barovian highlands. While learning the history and lore of his people he became fascinated with tales of heroism, eventually choosing the name of a warrior who stood against all forces that would have overwhelmed his abbey.
From an early age he showed a deftness of touch that served the Weaver's Guild well, which ended his childish visions of adventure. However he also discovered he could manipulate the threads of magic woven throughout the world and this led him down the path of the artificer.
